Bonnie Jean Mah is a writer, producer and director who brings an extensive background in communications to her work in the film community.
Among her current projects, Bonnie Jean will direct and co-produce the short film, FAMILY BUSINESS, for broadcaster CityTV. Written by Jeffrey Mah, this martial-arts family drama is supported through CityTV’s CineCity: Vancouver Stories funding program. She is also working with Shavick Entertainment and Convergent Entertainment to write and develop a number of dramatic and documentary projects for film and television.
Bonnie Jean produced PACKING UP, a dramatic short film directed by William B. Davis and awarded a Director's Guild of Canada / BC Film Kick Start grant and a Bravo!FACT award, which screened at several international festivals. Together, she and William B. Davis produced EXCHANGE, an award-nominated 35mm short film starring Jay Brazeau that broadcasted on CBC-TV and screened on the festival circuit.
She produced the 2005 Crazy8s short film, 24/7, a visual effects-filled dark comedy directed by Kelly-Ruth Mercier, and also produced the CBC Television / BC Film Signature Shorts film, BEACHBOUND, directed by Gemini Award winner Jessica Bradford. She has directed, written and edited several 16mm short films (dramatic, documentary & stop-motion animation). Bonnie Jean served on the 2003-04 Board of Women in Film & Video Vancouver.
